We will review A Good Day.

The Book:
A Good Day is written and illustrated by Kevin Henkes.

The Bubble:
The book is about the incidents that happens on a bad day which starts with the bird loses a feather, a dog caught in a fence, a fox can't find his mother and a squirrel losing its nut. Then, suddenly the day starts turning into a good one, with the squirrel finding a bigger nut, the dog unleashed, the fox finding his mother, the little bird just forgetting its loss and as a feather on the cap, a little girl finds that lost feather and goes home in glee.

Bubble Ink's verdict:
One of those picture books which don't preach even in a single line but drives home the message in such an effective way. The book holds lessons of perseverance, hope, to stop and breathe and the problem will just resolve itself, to let go and to derive happiness from even the littlest thing in life.

What can turn a bad day to a good day? Just wait ! Let things go or Let things be! And see again. We will either find the brightest idea to fix the problems or the problem has just vanished itself. Then, the bad day turns into a Good Day

A refreshing read for anyone of any age
We give it 4-Bubbles.
We borrowed our copy from Hippopotamus Bangalore.

Bubbling's verdict:
Bubbling picture reads this book almost fully and she does make a sad face all through the bad day pages and smiling with glee at the happy pages.

It is a bubbling-tantalizing-three.

0 T is for Twice my Size

Part of the A to Z blogging challenge = #atozchallenge

The Book:
Twice my Size is a book by Adrian Mitchell and illustrated by Daniel Pudles.

The Bubble:
This book starts with a tiny ladybird who meets a friend who is twice her size, the butterfly. The butterfly then meets a friends who is twice its size, bird. The bird then meets a squirrel who then meets a cat and so on.

The illustrations on every page make for a guessing game for which animal is going to appear on the next. It is a great first book for its colorful illustrations and can grow well on the toddler - for the guessing game and to learn comparative sizes among animals. birds and insects. The text rhymes beautifully and describes what comes on the next page.

Bubble Ink's verdict:
We love how the book ends  with the Sun being the biggest among all and the illustration that go with it, showing all the creatures introduced in the earlier pages on a single page around the BIG SUN. We also love the way the creatures are sequenced - cat meeting a dog, dog meeting a boy who then meets a girl , a horse, elephant , dolphin and finally the Sun!

We borrowed our copy from Hippocampus, Bangalore.
We give it 3-bubbles.

Bubbling's verdict:
Bubbling loves books with guessing games or I spy books. This is a very recent read for her - So no bubbling rating yet for this one.

0 Q is for Quiet Loud

Part of the A to Z blogging challenge. #atozchallenge
We are loving how the A to Z challenge is giving a chance to review some of our most-loved books and we also love how some of our books like these fit into these tougher letters like Q, Y etc! We have already done a Leslie Patricelli and one more coming up for Y!

The Book:
Quiet Loud is written, hand lettered and illustrated by Leslie Patricelli.

The Bubble:
The book features on each spread a thing that is Quiet and the one that is Loud. We love the way the quiet and loud things are paired on the pages of the book. Whispering with Screaming, Fishes with doggies, Thinking with singing, Slippers with Mommy's shoes, Sniffles with Sneezes, Turtles with Monkeys, Birds with Airplanes - The choices to explain the quiet and loud are impressive.

Bubble Ink's verdict:
Like we said here, the books featuring the one-haired bald baby are perfect first books. The objects and situations illustrated are so easy to relate from a very young age.
We highly recommend these for your child's library. Choose the one that best suits your baby's likes.
We give this one 3-bubbles.

Bubbling's verdict:
The bubbling loves Huggy Kissy the best from the author and she could relate the fishy on this book with the fishy from the Huggy Kissy book. Such is the impact , the illustrations have on a child. Leslie Particelli's were one of her first board books. This particular book , Quiet Loud, is a bubbling-tantalizing-three.

0 L is for Lettice

Part of the A to Z challenge - #atozchallenge

The Book:
The book Lettice is written and illustrated by Mandy Stanley is a story of Lettice the rabbit, who wishes to fly.

The Bubble:
The book is about a rabbit called Lettice who loved to fly. Lettice not only had a dream to fly but also tried hard for that dream - she practiced flapping her wings , arms, ears and even her whiskers and tail only to realize that rabbits can't fly. But she "chased" her dream and it come true. She went behind the pink air plane that she found, sat on it and she did get to fly and gets to see the whole world from up above.

The illustrations are pretty with the rabbit and the cute pink air plane - there is nothing not to love about them.

Bubble Ink's verdict:
It is a beautiful story about dreams coming true. Like in this book, if there is something that you really want or love, the whole universe will conspire to get that thing to you. The universe brought a remote controlled toy airplane for this little rabbit to fly! Dreams do come true !

We bought our copy at a book sale - without knowing the author or the name of the book by just flipping through the pretty illustrations. "Some bunny is cute - and yes, Lettice was just too cute to not pick the book up".
Just realized that there is a series with Lettice the rabbit : Flying rabbit, dancing rabbit, Dance with me, All about me.
We give it 3 bubbles.

Bubbling's verdict:
Bubbling's favourites has aeroplanes and bunnies so the book was a good read.
It is a bubbling-tantalizing-three.

0 D is for Dig Dig Digging

Part of the A to Z blogging challenge #atozchallenge

The Book:
Dig, Dig, Digging is a book by Margaret Mayo illustrated by Alex Ayliffe about all heavy duty vehicles.

The Bubble:
The book is about all the heavy duty vehicles like transporters, fire engines, tractors, rollers, dump trucks, bulldozers and the likes. The text in the book rhymes ending with -ing just like the title Dig, Dig, Digging which is great for read-aloud. The illustrations are well detailed showing the caterpillar tracks of the bulldozers, load carrying lorries, the construction scenes and the view of the town resting. The scenes illustrated offer a lot of scope for object identification play with the toddler.
Each vehicle is explained with what it does and the sound it makes.

Sample lines.
Tractors are good at pull, pull, pulling,
Ploughing up the field with a squelch, squelch, squelching.

Round go the wheels, see the mud flying!
They can work all day.

Bubble Ink's verdict
Like the text in the book,

This book is great for read, read, reading.
If your child loves things that go roll, roll, rolling.
This book they'll keep on picking,
And will read this all day.

We give it 3 bubbles.

Bubbling's verdict
The bubbling loves cranes and loves talking about the pictures in the book, pointing to the different things on the illustrations.
It is a bubbling-tantalizing-three. But this is just my bubbling's view. Am sure this can even be a full-five for other children.
The book also seems to be available along with a toy-set. Check it out.

0 Little Learners - Slide and See - I feel happy

The Book:
Little Learners - Slide and See - I feel happy is a book with pull out tabs about emotions illustrated with the help of animals.

The Bubble:
What we love about the book is the way each emotion is illustrated with the help of animals and characters. The book is great for babies to just look at the beautiful illustration and for slightly older babies to pull out tabs. We love the way it introduces relationships among with emotions like hugging with parents, saying bye to grandparents, learning a skill from mommy, helping mommy and playing with friends. The illustrations used are mother-baby animals and characters and are lovely.

Bubble Ink's verdict:
This can very easily become your baby's first favourite picture book before she ventures into stories. It won't disappoint even as your baby gets older as it offers scope for enacting emotions, building vocabulary with the emotion words on older kids. The book that is sure to grow on your baby. You will not regret the lack of story in this one - the illustrations and the way it subtlety reminds you of some forgotten emotions make up for it.
We bought ours at the Crossword store.
We give it 3 bubbles out of 5.

The Bubbling's verdict:
The bubbling's favourite picture book was this one as a 1 year old. She loves the page "I feel happy when I am with my family" and still keeps bringing this one saying "I feel happy" and sings along - If you are happy and you know it .
She also loves the I feel bored page and the pull out tab on it which shows friends coming along to play. It is a Bubbling-Tantalizing-Three.

0 Biscuit's Birthday

Biscuit's Birthday

The Book:
Biscuit's Birthday is a book about the birthday party of a dog named Biscuit. The book is written by Alyssa Satin Capucilli and illustrated by Pat Schorie. This is part of the Biscuit series of book featuring the brown dog character, Biscuit.

The Bubble:
We mostly sense her current interest for events/things/characters and mostly pick books based on that theme/character. This book was an easy choice for us with dog being one of her favourite animals, her excitement at a recent party and her own birthday nearing.

The story revolves around how a girl organizes a birthday party for her dog, named Biscuit. Right from, waking him up with a hat to put on, inviting his friends, decorating the lawn with balloons, the small cake with a candle, unwrapping of the birthday gifts , the perfect set up is beautifully illustrated. We love the  birthday mood it set us in. The book helps you teach the child on what happens at birthdays and to get her excited about her own.

We love the cute way the girl has thought out each of the favourite food for every guest and her thoughtful gifts for her puppy. Birthday is the best time to surprise your loved ones with the things on their wish list and to witness the joy as they unwrap those carefully chosen gifts. This book sends out that message to your child.

Biscuit with his hat on - unwrapping his gifts is cuteness overload.

Bubble Ink's Verdict:
Get the book to gear your child for her own party or for a friend's party. Birthday surprises have been the most awaited and most cherished events of my childhood, so this book is one of our favourites.

"Plan birthday surprises with gifts,
Invite those surprise guests,
Blow the candle as you make a wish,

Enjoy great party food and have a bash.",
says the Bubble Ink and the book.

We bought ours at flipkart.com. We give it 3 bubbles out of 5.
We picked the book after Devaki from Little Readers' Nook recommended the Biscuit series.

The Bubbling's Verdict:
Bubbling recently celebrated her 2nd birthday. From about 6 months ago, she has been reading this book and was well geared for her birthday. At the very sight of the book , says in baby talk, "Happy to you" and starts singing the Happy Birthday song. She loves all things party in this book.
It is a bubbling tantalizing-three.
